There have been a number of “through the history of games” games recently, but as far as I know, Evoland was the original. In it, you play as a young lad who has lost his way in a world that seems to be floating through time, and with it, all the tropes, aesthetics, and play mechanics of games past roll in and out over Evoland like the tide.
Now over 2 years later developer Shiro Games has allowed us to return once more to the amorphous core of the very concept of “RPGness” by releasing Evoland 2 (or II, whatever).
And I played it today. And it’s amazing. Watch me play it. Here we go:
Evoland 2 is out today on Steam and is highly recommended for RPG fans.
