Skateboarding puzzle game. Hmm… that’s likely a brand new genre hybrid if I were to take an educated guess. And no, finding the right wall to spray paint in Tony Hawk doesn’t count as a puzzle. The game I’m actually talking about it Seeders, by developer Bigosaur, and it’s out now on Steam.
In Seeders you play as a young skate rat who is distraught to hear that some jerk is planning on bulldozing your favorite skate park to make way for a development site. But you and your bros have other plans, which include breaking into the company headquarters and stealing their permits. What a bunch of scamps! But as it turns out, something more sinister than you imagined is going on with this shady company, and the closer you get to their lair, the more you want to find out what exactly is going on.
At its core Seeders is a platform puzzler, but what sets it apart from other games in the genre is that the puzzles are physics-based. Oh, you say that there are plenty of physics-based puzzle platformers? Let me be a little more clear then. These are extremely nuanced physics puzzles where everything doesn’t stack up just perfectly in a nice little line. Often the puzzles involve pushing things in just the right way so they land at a certain angle, or pushing them faster so they fly off a ledge at the right speed, or stacking them haphazardly enough so that they tip over with you on them so you can jump off at the right moment. These are not always neatly-solved puzzles, and they are definitely not easy, despite sometimes having multiple solutions. Trailer is below.
If you’re interested in a challenging platform puzzler with sometimes odd solutions, you can pick up Seeders on Steam now.
