One look at Toby: The Secret Mine will likely remind you of the highly acclaimed Limbo, but the trailer indicates that this game has a wider vision for how far Toby will go to find his friends.
Toby: The Secret Mine is a story-driven puzzle platformer that also seems to mix horror into the game as well. The player takes up the role of a young boy named Toby whose friends have been kidnapped. And it promises a world where everything is “as creepy and mystifying as the eerie graphics and storyline demand.”
The trailer for Toby: The Secret Mine presents a story that focuses on an evil that comes from mankind itself. Toby is forced to traverse several types of terrain on his rescue mission, including forests, a factory, the desert and a snow area. The villain is not a hideous creature, but instead some sort of nefarious, likely disturbed individual who looks strangely similar to Toby himself.
The game in still in development for PC and Mac, but has a tentative Summer 2015 release date. Although Toby: The Secret Mine does seem similar to Limbo, it seems that Toby looks to build off what Limbo started, taking the idea of the indie platform-horror game to further heights.
